Paris: Fire forces people to jump through windows, two children among eight dead

Eight people, including two children, died in a fire in a residential building early Wednesday morning in a district in northern Paris, reports the news agency Patria.

The fire of unknown origin broke out in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, according to police. Among the eight dead, two people lost their lives after jumping through a window, police stated. Two children are among the victims, according to a source close to the investigation. The fire started on the ground floor and spread via the stairwell. More than a hundred firefighters intervened to extinguish the blaze.

French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, who arrived at the scene, stated that it is "too early to determine the cause of the tragedy," reports Index.
