Pope Francis criticized Donald Trump for his idea of building a wall on the border between Mexico and the USA, reports BBC News, according to the Patria News Agency,
"He who thinks only of building walls, and not of bridges, is not a Christian. If someone says something like that, then they are not a Christian," said Pope Francis, who did not want to answer whether Americans should vote for Trump.
The Republican candidate for US President claims to be a "proud Christian" and called the Pope's statements shameful.
"The Mexican government has surely convinced the Pope that I am a bad guy. No leader, especially a religious leader, should question someone else's faith," Trump said during a speech in North Carolina.
Trump said that the Vatican represents the "ultimate trophy" for ISIS and that if an attack occurs, the Pope will wish and pray that he is the President of the USA because then it would not happen.
"The Pope is a very political person. I don't think he understands the problems our country has, I don't think he understands the danger of the open border we have with Mexico," Trump said, writes Index.
