(Patria) - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas today appointed Mohammad Mustafa as the new Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority, the state news agency WAFA announced.
Mustafa's appointment comes after growing pressure to reform the governing body of the occupied Palestinian territories and improve its governance in the occupied West Bank.
The new prime minister has been tasked with leading humanitarian aid and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip, as well as reforming the institutions of the Palestinian Authority, WAFA added.
Mustafa succeeds Mohammed Shtayyeh as Prime Minister, who resigned with the rest of the government in February.
