Palestinian doctor for NAP: Gaza urgently needs medication for skin diseases

Since the shelling in Gaza stopped, more and more patients are coming to us with some form of skin disease. Unfortunately, we are struggling with medications for such diseases, says doctor Mohamad Abu Sultan, who works as a dermatologist in one of the clinics in Gaza, in an exclusive interview with the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

He said that, as far as he can tell, people in Gaza have some food, but the problem is with medicines, hygiene supplies, electricity, and water.

- The shelling has stopped and that is good, people have come out into the streets, cleaning up the rubble, but now all those problems that come after the siege of a place are coming to us, such as skin diseases, infections, epidemics... We need help from others to successfully cope with these troubles – says Dr. Abu Sultan.

His house is located in the immediate vicinity of the clinic where he works as a doctor. He said that he is now working the second shift and uses every free moment during the day to sleep before the hard work. This is also the first time that after almost two months of continuous shelling by Israel, he has managed to get a few hours of sleep in one go.

- You in Bosnia and Herzegovina know best what it means to fall asleep under shelling. That is not sleep. We are all exhausted – said Dr. Abu Sultan, writes NAP.

A ceasefire is being observed in the Gaza Strip, which was reached in Cairo on Tuesday in indirect negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians after 50 days of conflict. The aggression on the Gaza Strip by Israel began on July 8 this year, after which more than 2,100 Palestinians, mostly civilians, were killed, as well as a large number of children.

On the Israeli side, slightly more than 60 soldiers and a few civilians were killed.

Yesterday, Madžid Maruf, president of the Association “Palestinian Community in BiH”, also spoke out, telling the Patria agency that the latest aggression by Israel on Gaza has turned the majority of the world public against the prime minister of the Zionist regime, Benjamin Netanyahu.

- This could also be seen through the demonstrations that were organized by citizens around the world during the last Israeli aggression in support of the Palestinian people – said Maruf.

- Netanyahu thought he would destroy Gaza, but instead, the whole world now knows that Israel is not a victim, as it has been portraying itself for years, but on the contrary – an aggressor killing the innocent Palestinian people, says Maruf, writes NAP.
