Palestine was admitted as a member of Interpol at the General Assembly held in Beijing, writes the Patria agency.
Israel fiercely opposed Palestine's admission to Interpol membership, but Palestine was admitted by vote.
- The State of Palestine and the Solomon Islands are now member states of Interpol – Interpol announced on its official Twitter profile.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs lobbied for the vote to be postponed until next week, but did not succeed.
Israel has not yet commented on Palestine's admission to Interpol.
