GAZA, (Patria) - Following yesterday's Israeli-Palestinian clashes in which at least 59 Palestinians were killed and 2,700 wounded in the Palestinian territories, new protests have been announced, according to world media.
The morning in Jerusalem was calm, with increased police presence, primarily questioning citizens of Arab origin.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that a Palestinian baby died after inhaling tear gas during clashes between Palestinian demonstrators and Israeli soldiers at protests in Gaza, near the border with Israel. It was not stated how far the eight-month-old baby and her family were from the scene of the clashes. RTS correspondent from Palestine reports that the casualties in the Gaza Strip are still being counted, so the number of dead and wounded is not final.
Israeli warplanes bombed 11 Hamas targets in the northern Gaza Strip on Tuesday, the army announced, while dozens of funerals were held for Palestinian civilians killed by Israeli soldiers on Monday.
In addition to airstrikes, the Israeli army fired tanks at two Hamas positions, reports dpa news agency.
- The Israeli army will decisively continue its activities to prevent mass terrorist attacks, largely organized by the terrorist organization Hamas. We will respond sharply to all terrorist activities - reads a military statement.

In the West Bank and East Jerusalem, the Palestinian authorities called for a general strike and three days of mourning.
On the bloodiest day in recent years in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army estimates that more than 40,000 Palestinians participated in protests at ten locations along the border.
Today, Palestinians mark Nakba, or the "Day of Catastrophe," the day of the establishment of the State of Israel, a day when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were expelled from their homes.
At Kuwait's request, an emergency session of the UN Security Council will be held today. The Palestinian representative to the UN requested that the Security Council condemn the killing of Palestinians, reports AP.
In a draft text obtained by AFP, the "Security Council expresses its outrage and sorrow over the deaths of Palestinian civilians who were exercising their right to peaceful protest.".
On the other hand, the Israeli representative to the UN asked the Security Council to condemn Hamas, which led the protests against the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem and under whose control the Gaza Strip is.
Turkey announced the recall of its ambassadors from Washington and Tel Aviv, and South Africa is also recalling its ambassador from Israel. Turkey also asked the Israeli ambassador in Ankara to leave the country, at least temporarily.
- Israel is a terrorist state, and the steps they are taking prove it. Unfortunately, the US is cooperating with Israel mercilessly, just as they cooperated with the Kurdish militia in Syria and the Islamic State, even though they said they were fighting against it. What Israel has done is genocide, and it is not the first time Israel has committed genocide - said Turkish President Erdogan.
The US administration had avoided moving the embassy for decades, a move Donald Trump made very quickly. Palestinians have thus lost hope that things will be resolved politically.
- The crime of moving the US embassy is an unjustified, aggressive act towards our country and the eternal capital of Palestine – Jerusalem - said Hamas representative Halil el Haja.

Deputy White House Spokesperson Ray Shah said they are aware of reports of violence in the Gaza area.
- The responsibility for the tragic deaths lies solely with Hamas. Hamas deliberately and cynically provoked this response, and as the Secretary of State said, Israel had the right to defend itself - Shah stated.
Shah said that Monday was "a great day for Israel and the United States" due to the relocation of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Several thousand citizens of New York took to the streets to protest against the violence against Palestinians, demanding that Israel stop killing civilians and urging the US to influence Israel. Numerous members of the Jewish community in New York also expressed support for the Palestinians.
Protests against the killing of Palestinians were held across Muslim countries, as well as in a large number of European cities. The largest protests were held in Iran and Turkey, and despite the war in Syria, protests were also held in the streets of Syria's two largest cities, Damascus and Aleppo.
