(Patria) - Pakistan has invited senior diplomats from Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Egypt for talks on de-escalating tensions and ending the ongoing war in the Middle East, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry announced yesterday.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, who also serves as Foreign Minister, extended the invitation to the foreign ministers of "brotherly countries" to visit the country on Sunday and Monday.
"During the visit, the foreign ministers will hold detailed discussions on a range of issues, including those on de-escalating tensions in the region," the statement said, without providing or releasing additional details on the meeting's agenda.
- During the two-day visit to Pakistan, the visiting officials will also meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif - Dar specified.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry later stated that Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Ati had traveled to Islamabad to attend a four-party ministerial meeting on the war in the region.
Pakistan shares a roughly 900-kilometer border with Iran and has offered to act as a mediator since the US-Israeli war with Iran expanded into the region.
Sharif said his country is ready to host the talks. On Thursday, Dar said Islamabad is conveying messages between the United States and Iran to reduce tensions.
In a post on platform X yesterday, Sharif wrote that he spoke by phone with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
