Pakistan to host second round of US-Iran peace talks?

(Patria) - The United States and Iran are expected to return to Pakistan for a new round of peace talks, Reuters reported, citing four sources.

According to these reports, the negotiating teams from both sides are expected to meet in Islamabad later this week to continue talks after the unsuccessful first round.

Let us recall that the previous negotiations in Pakistan ended without an agreement after several hours of talks, but both sides left the door open for continued dialogue.

The Iranian ambassador to the United Nations condemned the US blockade of Iranian ports, calling it a serious violation of sovereignty.

In a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Amir Saeid Iravani stated that this illegal blockade represents a serious violation of the fundamental principles of international maritime law.

Guterres on Monday called on all parties to respect freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil transport.

The US military imposed a blockade on Iranian ports on Monday at 10 AM Eastern Time (2 PM GMT), after peace talks with Iran in Pakistan failed.
