Decline in exports in the Federation of BiH

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Federation of BiH exported a total value of 551,280 thousand KM in March 2020, which is 56,587 thousand KM or 9.3% less compared to February 2020, or 99,361 thousand KM or 15.3% less compared to March of the previous year.

In the same month, imports were realized in the amount of 1,032,442 thousand KM, which is 67,168 thousand KM or 6.1% less compared to February 2020, or 217,968 thousand KM or 17.4% less compared to March of the previous year, according to the report of the Federal Office of Statistics.

In the period January – March 2020, exports decreased by an average of 2.4% each month, and imports increased by an average of 7.9%.

The import coverage rate by exports is 53.4%, which is 1.9% less compared to February 2020, when the coverage was 55.3%. The trade deficit of the Federation of BiH for March 2020 amounts to 481,162 thousand KM.

According to the KD, for March 2020, the highest export value of 497,866 thousand KM was achieved in the area C Manufacturing industry, which amounts to 90.3% of the total exports. The highest import value of 916,419 thousand KM was achieved in the area C Manufacturing industry, which amounts to 88.8% of the total imports.

According to SMTK, for March 2020, the largest share in exports was achieved in sector 8 Miscellaneous manufactured goods with a value of 144,409 thousand KM, which is 26.2% of total exports. 

In the same month, the largest share in imports was achieved in sector 6 Manufactured goods, classified chiefly by material with a value of 240,213 thousand KM, which is 23.3% of total imports.

For March 2020, the main export destinations were: Germany with 101,766 thousand KM or 18.5% of total exports; Croatia with 83,933 thousand KM or 15.2% and Austria with 55,411 thousand KM or 10.1% of total exports. 

Exports to all other countries amount to 310,170 thousand KM or 56.3% of total exports.

For the same month, the main import sources were: Germany with 139,074 thousand KM or 13.5% of total imports, Croatia with 117,429 thousand KM or 11.4% and Italy with 100,024 thousand KM or 9.7% of total imports. 

Imports from all other countries amount to 675,915 thousand KM or 65.5% of total imports.
