Exhibition "Significant Dates of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo – April 5 and May 16, 1992" Opened

(Patria) - A memorial exhibition on the topic "Significant Dates of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo, April 5 and May 16, 1992" was opened at the Trg heroja Memorial Center, prepared by the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The opening of today's exhibition was attended by the Mayor of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo, Hasan Tanović, with his associates, the President of the Municipal Council of Novo Sarajevo, Robert Pleše,
Director of the Historical Museum of BiH, Elma Hašimbegović, representatives of veterans' associations, members of the "Hrasno brdo" Detachment, and eighth-grade students of the "Hrasno" Elementary School.

In his address, Mayor Hasan Tanović emphasized that the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo supports these and similar projects by both veterans' associations and the Historical Museum of BiH with the aim of returning the culture of remembrance to institutions, and the most competent institution to process all data and war facts is the Historical Museum of BiH.

– All of us who participated in the war in the period 1992-1995 have our personal and emotional understanding of all the events that took place in these areas at that time, but it is very important that we have a roof institution that will collect all these memories and documents and turn them into a story that will be clear enough for the new generations to come, who, fortunately, did not have the opportunity to experience such things firsthand. It is important that everyone knows and feels what all our citizens, parents, family members, friends went through during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the wish that it never happens again, emphasized Mayor Tanović.

The memorial exhibition was realized within the framework of a research and museological project supported by the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo as part of the commemoration of the municipality's significant dates, and implemented by the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Given the complexity and seriousness of the project, it was realized in two phases, the first phase of which involved the research part by historians and curators, collection of materials, mapping, digitization of materials, and the like, while the second phase involved the production of the exhibition.
