Third student festival Postfest opened

(Patria) - The third student festival Postfest opened last night at the Youth Theatre Sarajevo! The festival was opened by young and prospective actor Harun Ćehović, and was addressed by the current director and founder of the festival, Zlatko Sofović. The new festival director, Adna Rizvan, also addressed the audience.

Festival events began with a play from the Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo, "PSYCHOSIS AT 4:48" directed by student Ajla Bešić. The play featured: Vedad Čano, Emina Topolović, Elma Fetić, and Sara Seksan. "PSYCHOSIS AT 4:48" is based on the text of the same name by Sarah Kane, which places a fragmenting subject experiencing one of their depressive episodes at the center of the action. Through poetic language, it expresses the deepest feelings that arise in those moments: love, hate, fear of death, and a deep desire for life.

The main event, which serves as the connective tissue of these poetic scenes, is the conflict between the subject and the main doctor in the psychiatric ward, who labels depression as an illness and her as a person who can only be cured with antidepressants. However, she believes that only love can cure her. Each scene represents a segment of depression that escalates more and more, driving her further towards death. Nevertheless, in the end, due to a strong desire to experience true and genuine love in life, she manages to save herself and emerge from the depressive episode.

After the play, POSTFESTUM was held, a round table discussion about the play, where advice, critiques, praise, etc., were exchanged, moderated by dramaturgy student Benjamin Konjicija.

This officially concluded the first day of POSTFEST, and the weekend will feature two film slots, a masterclass, and two theatre performances! We thank everyone who managed to come to the Youth Theatre despite all the weather conditions! We remind you that the Association of Students of the Academy of Performing Arts Sarajevo is the organizer of the third edition of the POSTFEST student festival, which this year, in addition to the theatre program, also includes a film program! The festival will host students from 6 regional academies from November 5th, 6th, and 7th, 2021, in Sarajevo. The theatre program takes place at the Youth Theatre Sarajevo, and the film program at the Meeting Point cinema. Under the slogan RE:START, students want to enjoy theatre and film again, and through socializing, create new fantastic collaborations!
