SARAJevo, (Patria) - The twelfth Youth Film Festival Sarajevo opened last night with the screening of the film "County Lines" at the Sarajevo Youth Theatre and at open-air locations at the playground of the elementary school "Safvet beg Bašagić" (Gimnazijska 1) and at the Thermal Riviera Ilidža, while the film "Green Book" was screened as part of the Drive-In Cinema.
Public interest, as expected, is high again this year at all locations.
"What makes us extremely happy is that everyone is adhering to the measures that have been adopted due to the coronavirus epidemic. Also, I am glad that we managed to bring young filmmakers from the region, who, respecting all prescribed measures, will be with us for the next six days. I am sure that everything will go smoothly, and that visitors will enjoy the films and other content we have prepared for them," said Kenan Musić, director of OFF.
This time again, the Drive-In Cinema attracted the most attention from visitors, which is the most attractive part of this year's festival program, but there was also great interest in watching films from beanbags and loungers.
"We have top films in the program that are coming from major world festivals this year. So, in the coming days, visitors can expect premieres of some films for Southeast Europe, top films at the Drive-In Cinema, presentations of the authors who have come, as well as good networking and socializing that we have prepared as part of the festival programs. I believe that the Festival, until Wednesday, when it ends, will meet all expectations this year, although it will be held at a significantly reduced capacity," Musić stated.
The festival organizers presented a special award, the Wolf's Ring with an engraved wolf's head, the symbol of OFF, for 2020 to the Government of Sarajevo Canton, led by Prime Minister Marijo Nenadić. The award was accepted on behalf of the KS Government by Adi Kalem, Minister of Transport of KS. The same award was presented to Ambassador Johann Sattler, Head of the EU Delegation to BiH.
Let us remind you that the twelfth edition of OFF will present slightly more than 35 films from 12 countries around the world, of which 10 are world premieres and 15 are regional premieres.
A total of six film titles will be screened within the Drive-In Cinema, from the OFF Screen program: "Green Book", "The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete", "The Town", "The Shiny Shrimps", "Argo", and "Nightcrawler". For the new edition of Drive-In Cinema, OFF has prepared a larger screen, to enhance the viewing pleasure.
Tickets can be purchased at the box office centers in front of the BBI Center and in the Importane Center, at the hotels Hollywood and Hills, as well as through the kupikartu.ba system and at kupikartu.ba points of sale throughout BiH.
