SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The renovated Stojčevac picnic area was opened with the humanitarian race Stojčevac 5K, which was attended by over 500 competitors, followed by a spectacular concert by Hari Mata Hari. More than 20,000 people visited the area on Saturday.
The race, which was part of the sports and entertainment event that also marked the opening of the summer tourist season in Sarajevo Canton, attracted great interest despite its humanitarian nature. According to the number of runners, it also earned the title of the most massive 5K race ever held in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition to the large number of registered runners who duly picked up their starting packages, many others joined to enhance the sports part of the Stojčevac opening event.
In the men's competition, Emir Hastor triumphed (16:02), followed by Mustafa Jamak (16:29), and third was Zaim Šuman (17:00). The fastest female runner was Amela Trožić (19:43), second place was won by Irina Aniechkina - Janjić (23:37), and third place was taken by Amela Tuzlak (24:12).
In addition to the top two in both categories, friends of the humanitarian race Stočevac 5K also provided prizes for the youngest and oldest participants, as well as for the fastest female and male residents of Ilidža. The prizes were awarded by the Mayor of Ilidža Municipality, Nermin Muzur, and the Speaker of the Ilidža Municipal Council, Tarik Stambolić.
The money collected from paid entry fees for the race (4,280 KM) was donated to associations from the Ilidža municipality that work with children with developmental disabilities through their activities and programs.
The highlight of the race, which had 358 finishers, was the spectacular concert by Hari Mata Hari in the unique ambiance of Stojčevac. Mayor Muzur stated that the renovated picnic area will offer unique content to its visitors every year.
- More than 20,000 people visited Stojčevac, first enjoying the most massive race of its kind so far, Stojčevac 5K, and then a spectacular concert by our Hari Mata Hari. We proved that there is a place for everyone, for the oldest as well as the youngest, that there is a corner for those who want to sit and enjoy the natural environment from the side, as well as for those who want to compete, run races, or want to dance and enjoy Hari's hits. No one bothered anyone, thank God there were no injuries in the race, nor any incidents at the concert itself - said the Mayor of Ilidža Municipality, Nermin Muzur, adding:
- It took more than 27 years for Stojčevac to shine, it took more than 27 years to have a race at Stojčevac, and it took more than 27 years to have a concert at Stojčevac. Plan to gather here every year, share a positive and good atmosphere, and enjoy our Stojčevac.
Hari Mata Hari managed to transfer his excellent energy to the audience through his greatest hits, and even a short rain could not spoil the great atmosphere that prevailed at Stojčevac on Saturday evening.
