Alienated centers of power: HJPC members block election of prosecutors for terrorism and work against BiH

Judge of the Supreme Court of FBiH and member of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council Goran Nezirović, along with several other members of this body that appoints judges and prosecutors in our country, is the main obstacle to the election of additional prosecutors in the Prosecutor's Office of BiH who would exclusively deal with terrorism, according to unofficial information obtained by the Patria News Agency.

As confirmed at today's meeting of the Strike Group for Combating Terrorism, currently only one !? prosecutor in the Prosecutor's Office of BiH is working on terrorism cases. This is Dubravko Čampare, who has so far filed several indictments, prosecuted more than 20 people, and is personally conducting investigations against about 20 more suspects.

Additional funds for hiring and electing new prosecutors in the Department for Terrorism, established in June this year, were provided by the Council of Ministers of BiH and the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH from the state budget in April of this year.

Today's meeting of the Strike Group discussed the election of eight additional prosecutors for terrorism, but as some members of this group told Patria, everything is on a long road.

In May of this year, for reminder, Chief Prosecutor Goran Salihović emphasized that the Prosecutor's Office of BiH will undergo personnel and technical strengthening of the Department for Terrorism in the coming months, which is to become a separate department within the Prosecutor's Office where prosecutors, investigators, and expert staff will work solely on prosecuting terrorism cases. Apart from Salihović's announcement, there have been no concrete steps.

Although BiH is directly targeted by terrorism as it has been a member of the global anti-terrorist coalition since 2001, threats are now more frequent, attacks have almost become our daily routine, and citizens are alarmed, the HJPC, headed by Milan Tegeltija, has not even bothered to complete the application procedure and appoint prosecutors for terrorism, who should have been working at full capacity long ago, within half a year of the funds being approved.

The entire procedure is being blocked by Goran Nezirović and his team, for reasons known only to them. The state, or rather the state authorities, have clearly defined their position and commitment to fighting terrorism. Obviously, the HJPC does not want a stronger crackdown on this scourge, which directly endangers and complicates the security situation, and creates an atmosphere of fear.

It is time for someone in this country, although the HJPC is an "independent body," to finally oppose the arbitrariness of individuals who have become so powerful that they have become alienated centers of power, who, working for someone's account and in someone's name, are literally destroying this country, writes NAP.
