Hamas weapons cache discovered in Europe

(Patria) - During an investigation related to Hamas members arrested in December in Germany and the Netherlands, investigators discovered a weapons cache intended for attacks on Jewish facilities in Germany.

Weapons and ammunition intended for Hamas attacks on Jewish targets in Germany, particularly in Berlin, were found in an underground cache in southern Bulgaria, reports Der Spiegel, citing sources from the German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA).

According to the same reports, the discovered weapons have since become partially unusable due to rust, reports Hina.

Information about the weapons cache was obtained by analyzing the mobile phone of one of the four Palestinians arrested in December in Berlin and the Netherlands on suspicion of preparing weapons caches in Europe for terrorist attacks on behalf of Hamas.

The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office further suspects that the arrested individuals likely also prepared similar underground caches in Poland. Shovels were found in the car of three of them during a check at the German-Polish border.

German and European law enforcement agencies received information about members of Hamas's militant wing from Israeli intelligence services.

German authorities announced in January that the order to prepare weapons caches across Europe was given by Khalil al-Karaz himself, the deputy commander of Hamas's militant wing, who has since been killed in an Israeli attack.
