Father shoots son in Gornji Vakuf, police officer also wounded

(Patria) - The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Central Bosnia Canton (SBK) has issued a statement regarding the shooting that occurred last night in the village of Trnovača, in the municipality of Gornji Vakuf-Uskoplje, when a man was shot with a firearm by his father.

"On 07.10.2025, at approximately 10:00 PM, the Gornji Vakuf-Uskoplje Police Station received a report that I.R., born in 1984, was shot in his family home in Trnovača, municipality of Gornji Vakuf-Uskoplje, by his father A.R., born in 1956, sustaining bodily injuries.

Immediately upon receiving the report, police officers were dispatched to the scene. Upon their arrival at the house, firearms were discharged, resulting in bodily injuries to one police officer. Upon entering the family home, police officers found I.R. and A.R. with bodily injuries, suspected to have been caused by the use of firearms. A pistol was found on the injured A.R.

They, along with the injured police officer, were immediately transported to healthcare facilities for medical assistance. In cooperation with the competent Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, police officers are undertaking measures and actions within their jurisdiction to establish all facts and circumstances related to this incident," the SBK Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.
