The Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina organized the participation of Bosnian-Herzegovinian companies at the WorldFood Istanbul 2016 food industry fair for the third time, held from September 1st to 4th, 2016. They also received support from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, writes the BH news agency Patria.
Exhibitors at the fair included the Milkos Sarajevo dairy, Klas, Dukat – Tešanj, Bimal – Brčko, and Vita Life – Visoko, who presented their offerings at the stand.
This was also an opportunity to establish direct meetings with representatives of supermarkets in Turkey, and a series of meetings were held with interested partners.
Milkos Director Adin Fakić told the Patria agency that this is one of the largest fairs in the world.
- We were the only BiH dairy company and the first to receive permission to export to Turkey. Now we are focusing on that market, which is interesting both due to its population and the large number of people originating from our region – said Fakić, adding that in the past period they were focused on the EU and regional countries.
In addition to feta cheese, Milkos' recognizable product, cream, Ella natural water, and Ella iced teas were also presented.
The goal of participating in this fair was to present products that are global in nature and recognizable both in Turkey and in the wider region. This primarily applies to Royal white soft cheese of the feta type, which Milkos believes, similar to the meat project, can be very significant for BiH and for farmers engaged in milk production.
- Milkos has large capacities for the production of this cheese, for which 5 liters of milk are needed for 1 kg. This means that if it is placed in Turkey, all milk surpluses could be purchased, which would maintain stability in that sector and preserve the purchase price of milk. We hope that the Council of Ministers will recognize the importance of the project and provide support to Milkos and the farmers.
Nataša Pucar, Director of Corporate Communications at Studen Holding, told Patria that thanks to cooperation with the FBiH Chamber of Commerce, BiH companies are getting the opportunity to present themselves.
- The Turkish market is large, and there were many representatives from the Middle East. We made good contacts and had an extremely successful exhibition – says Pucar.
At the same time, the IPACK packaging and equipment fair for the food industry was held, so BiH exhibitors had the opportunity during their participation at the fair to also familiarize themselves with the offerings of equipment and new technologies for food production and packaging.
