Suspect in terrorism case extradited to BiH judiciary

(Patria) - Through joint efforts of the BiH Prosecutor's Office and partner police and security agencies, the suspect was located, identified, arrested, and transported from Turkey to Bosnia and
Herzegovina. The extradition of the suspect was carried out at Sarajevo International Airport, after which he was deprived of liberty and will be handed over to the acting prosecutor.

The suspect Vuković Jahja, born in 1999 in Bihać, is under investigation by the Department for Terrorism at the BiH Prosecutor's Office and is suspected of traveling to Syria in 2014 and joining the paramilitary formations of the so-called "ISIL", which was declared a terrorist organization by the UN Security Council.

According to the collected evidence, the suspect joined the "Al Nusra Front" formation, where, together with other BiH citizens, within the "Hattab" unit, he participated in the terrorist activities of this group, which included attacks on the population, killings, unlawful detentions, and other terrorist activities.

The collected evidence indicates that the suspect was a member of these formations until 2019 and the final collapse of the so-called "ISIL" structures, after which he hid in Turkey, where he was discovered and arrested. The suspect is under investigation for the criminal offense of organizing a terrorist group under Article 202d, paragraph 2, in conjunction with Article 201 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and within the legal deadline, he will be handed over to the acting prosecutor who will question the suspect and make a decision on further actions. The BiH Prosecutor's Office and the Department for Terrorism carried out the operation with partner institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad within the framework of anti-terrorist activities.
