Slovenian Suspects Counterfeited Euros Used for Payments at Pumps in BiH

(Patria) - The duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, after conducting an operation and depriving two individuals of liberty suspected of placing a larger quantity of counterfeit euro banknotes in the areas of Doboj and Prijedor, examined the suspects and decided to submit a proposal to the Court of BiH for the determination of a detention measure.

Detention was proposed for the suspects Tovilović Kalamanda Stefan Mariano (1999) from Ljubljana and Okorn Art (2003) from Kranj, citizens of the Republic of Slovenia.

The suspects are under investigation and are charged with having, at the beginning of April this year, put into circulation as genuine a larger quantity of counterfeit banknotes in denominations of 200 euros on multiple occasions when paying for various products at several gas stations in the municipalities of Doboj and Prijedor.

The detention measure was proposed for the reasons described in Article 132, paragraph 1, point a) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH, namely due to the risk of flight of the suspects who are foreign nationals, and by leaving BiH they would become unavailable to the Prosecutor's Office and the Court of BiH.

The suspects are charged with having committed the criminal offense of counterfeiting money under Article 205, paragraph 1, in conjunction with Articles 54 and 29 of the same Law.
