Convicted of tax evasion, RS Government granted him a concession

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – The Court of BiH sentenced Aleksandar Šljivić from Pale to a one-year suspended sentence for committing the criminal offense of tax evasion or fraud, the Court announced.

A fine of 10,000 KM was imposed on the accused as a secondary penalty. The accused is obliged to pay this fine within 30 days from the date the verdict becomes final.

The imposed sentence will not be executed if the accused does not commit a new criminal offense within three years from the date the verdict becomes final.

“The accused Aleksandar Šljivić is guilty of managing the incriminating business of the legal entity 'XXX' Pale, without limitations of authority, as the founder – owner and director – of the person authorized to represent the legal entity 'XXX' Pale, in the period from August 2010 to August 2011. The accused, with the help of Zorica Obradović, avoided paying the duties prescribed by the tax legislation of Bosnia and Herzegovina by providing false information about facts that affect the determination of the amount of obligations, and the amount of tax avoided exceeds 50,000.00 KM,” the Court’s decision states, as reported by Nezavisne novine.

65,762 KM, obtained through the criminal offense, was confiscated from Šljivić. The accused paid the aforementioned amount into the BiH Budget account on January 20 this year.

The CAPITAL portal published last year that the Public Prosecutor's Office of Republika Srpska did not give consent to the concession for stone exploitation, which the RS Government awarded to the company 'XXX' Pale, which, along with its owners, is under investigation by the prosecutor's office on suspicion of committing criminal offenses and damaging the RS Budget by almost one million marks.

The RS Government made the decision to grant the concession on April 9 last year, and the Ministry of Energy and Mining was authorized to conclude a 25-year concession agreement with the company 'XXX'.

We remind you that in 2018, it was announced that the Ministry of Internal Affairs, due to suspicion of damaging the RS Budget by 941,600 KM, reported Aleksandar Šljivić from Pale, founder and director of the company 'XXX', and his father Zoran Šljivić to the prosecutor's office.
