Former Israeli Prime Minister Convicted: Received $600,000 Bribe

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was sentenced to eight months in prison for corruption on Monday at a court in Jerusalem, Israeli media reported, according to the Patria news agency.

Olmert's lawyers, who headed the government from 2006 to 2009, immediately announced they would appeal, which postpones the implementation of the sentence.
Olmert (69) already faces a six-year prison sentence in connection with another corruption case currently being investigated by the Supreme Court. 

Olmert was found guilty on March 30th of receiving and concealing envelopes containing tens of thousands of dollars from American businessman Morris Talansky.

According to the indictment, Olmert used at least $150,000 out of a total of over $600,000 paid to him by Talansky.
