Sharp public reactions to Bleiburg Mass in Sarajevo

(Patria) - The Bleiburg Mass will be held today in the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Sarajevo. As announced by the Vrhbosna Archdiocese, 20 people and priests will attend the Mass, observing all epidemiological measures. The public is outraged by such behavior and organization.

Sharp reactions from the public, politicians, and religious communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina followed the announcement of the Mass. The Alliance of Anti-fascists and Veterans of the National Liberation War in Bosnia and Herzegovina will hold a commemorative gathering, as stated, for "victims of criminal terror in Sarajevo 1941-1945."

It is evident from the program for the 75th anniversary of Bleiburg and the organization of the Mass in Sarajevo that a series of events are organized in accordance with the Law on Holidays, Monuments, and Non-Working Days of the Republic of Croatia, which is devastating, as Croatian laws cannot be applied in BiH.

The patrons of the commemoration are the Croatian Parliament and the Croatian National Parliament of BiH! It was emphasized that the Mass will be led by Vinko Puljić, and Croatian Radio Television and Radio Television Herceg-Bosne, as well as Croatian Catholic Radio, will broadcast live from Mirogoj Cemetery in Zagreb and the Holy Mass from the Cathedral in Sarajevo.

We remind you that the Proposal for a Resolution on Respecting the Victims of the Ustaše Regime, proposed yesterday by MPs of the Our Party - Independent Bloc Club, Predrag Kojović, Aida Baručija, Mirjana Marinković-Lepić, and Damir Arnaut, caused a storm at the session of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH. After the debate, the deputies included this item on the agenda. Of the 39 present, 26 voted in favor, 7 against, and 6 abstained. Due to the fact that the session was interrupted, this Resolution was not voted upon.

The Resolution recalls the fascist character of the Ustaše regime of the so-called Independent State of Croatia, the millions of victims of fascist regimes, many of whom are from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the commitment to protect their dignity.
