Strong Reaction from the BiH Prosecutor's Office: OSCE Analysis is Malicious and Aims to Undermine the Judiciary in BiH

The collective of employees and the Collegium of the BiH Prosecutor's Office unanimously rejected the analysis by Judge Joanna Korner and the OSCE Mission.

The alleged analysis was dismissed as unfounded, untrue, sweeping and malicious, whose goal is not the improvement of war crimes prosecution, but the destruction of judicial institutions, the BiH Prosecutor's Office and the achieved results, the BiH Prosecutor's Office announced, as reported by the Patria news agency.

The employees of the BiH Prosecutor's Office and the Special Department for War Crimes are proud of the achieved results: a norm of 159%, work quality of 94%, and convictions in war crimes cases of over 80%.

In 2015, all Category 2 cases were resolved, i.e., the most complex cases forwarded from the Hague Tribunal, for the most serious crimes in human history.

The employees of the BiH Prosecutor's Office have invested great efforts in the achieved results, and the figure of over 610 indictees for war crimes speaks volumes about the quality of work, as well as the convictions and final sentences totaling 2,087 years of imprisonment.

The Collegium of employees of the BiH Prosecutor's Office will request from the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH to inform the OSCE ambassadors during today's meeting of the BiH Prosecutor's Office's position that the alleged analysis constitutes a gross interference in the independence of the BiH judiciary.

The BiH Prosecutor's Office once again emphasizes that it is open to cooperation with all partner institutions whose goal is progress in the prosecution of war crimes cases, not the destruction of institutions and denial of achieved results, the statement from the BiH Prosecutor's Office reads.
