Strong reaction from the BiH Prosecutor's Office: Mektić is trying to impose himself as police chief and chief prosecutor

A strong reaction came from the BiH Prosecutor's Office regarding the media appearances of BiH Security Minister Dragan Mektić. The Patria News Agency transmits this statement in full. 

-With his appearances, Security Minister Dragan Mektić is trying to impose himself as minister and police chief, minister of justice and chief prosecutor, and is directly interfering in the work of the judiciary, which is absolutely inappropriate.

Commenting on live and active cases in the BiH Prosecutor's Office is inappropriate and impermissible anywhere in the democratic world, and we also believe that the minister is not qualified to give opinions on the internal organization and staffing capacities of the prosecutor's office.

We consider the aforementioned media appearance of the minister exclusively a political move for the purpose of the upcoming local elections, and we tell the public that no one has the right to build a political campaign and election race on the back of the prosecutor's office, and that we will resolutely oppose such or similar actions.

All citizens are equal before the law, the BiH Prosecutor's Office works on the basis of the law, and no one will be prosecuted if there is no evidence, nor will anyone be spared criminal prosecution if there is evidence that they committed a criminal offense.
