On the occasion of the statement by Dane Malešević, Minister of Education of the BiH entity RS, in which he announces the ban on the use of school textbooks that talk about the Srebrenica Genocide and the siege of Sarajevo, Mr. Ramiz Salkić, Vice-President of this entity, gave a statement to the media. He reminded that the Hague Tribunal for War Crimes has issued verdicts confirming the Genocide and that hundreds of years of prison sentences have been handed down for this crime.
- The BiH entity RS is sinking into ever greater darkness. After the Army of Republika Srpska and parts of its police, under the leadership of Radovan Karadžić, committed the first genocide on European soil after Hitler, the authorities of this entity are today trying to ban the study of these facts, announcing repressive measures of banning textbooks that write about the Genocide and the siege of Sarajevo – Salkić said.
- The International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia has proven and finally ruled that Genocide was committed in Bosnia and Herzegovina and that it was committed by the Army and Police of Republika Srpska. Thousands of white tombstones in Potočari testify to this. No Malešević, nor any other denier of Genocide, will ever be able to refute these facts, even if he bans books. Even if he threatens children and teachers. Even if he intimidates parents. Unfortunately, the history of our people is written in blood and mass graves. It is written by Srebrenica, which has become a global symbol of crime. Srebrenica is the shame of the Serbian people. That shame is not removed by banning the truth and preserving the ideology of evil in government institutions. Shame is removed by repentance and asking for forgiveness from the victim. In the Serbian people, the majority are those who distance themselves from any connection with that crime, with the Genocide, but unfortunately, the current authorities of the BiH entity RS, by denying the Genocide, are cultivating that ideology of evil, leading the entire entity to certain ruin, moral, cultural, economic, demographic... Such authorities must be sanctioned immediately. We will not allow Malešević or anyone else to tarnish our sacred things. It is known in what systems books were banned and people punished for spreading the truth. This was in the dark Middle Ages. The Government of RS has hit rock bottom. It is particularly devastating that the Minister of Education is doing this. He will go down in history for making shameful decisions of denial and banning the Bosnian language, and now for banning books and textbooks... Although I am aware that Malešević will not want to accept this, I have an obligation to point out the fact that the results of the last census showed that over 52% of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, or about 14% of the citizens of RS, declared that they speak the Bosnian language. These are relevant indicators. Not Malešević. After such statements, we also have an obligation to take the position that he is no longer the minister of Bosniaks, because he does not represent our rights, guaranteed by the Constitution. On the contrary, he is endangering them. We do not want to recognize someone who pursues chauvinistic, nationalist, and apartheid policies as the Minister of Education. We call on the Government of RS and the international community to sanction his hate speech. I call on international institutions that implement projects in education to stop projects in the BiH entity RS and thus distance themselves from participating in the discrimination of Bosniaks and supporting apartheid – Salkić said, NAP reports.
