Sharp message from Moscow: We hope Serbia will withdraw its vote for the anti-Russian resolution

(Patria) - Moscow hopes that Belgrade will withdraw its vote for the anti-Russian resolution at the UN, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

When asked by a journalist from "RT Balkan" to comment on the riots in the Serbian Parliament, Zakharova said that Serbia, as a sovereign democratic state, should handle its internal issues on its own.

- From the standpoint of international relations, I am more interested in whether the Serbian delegation at the UN has withdrawn its vote on the anti-Russian resolution. To be honest, that is what interests me.

So far, I have not seen any statement on that topic. I hope that, given the statement from official Belgrade that it was a mistake, this will be done - Zakharova said, adding that the mistake can be corrected and the vote withdrawn.

Earlier, President Aleksandar Vučić confirmed that Serbia voted for the European resolution on Ukraine in the UN General Assembly, but believes it made a mistake and should have abstained.

Let us recall, the UN General Assembly adopted an anti-Russian resolution on Ukraine submitted by Kyiv and a number of Western countries.

93 countries voted in favor of the resolution, including Serbia, while 18 voted against, and 65 abstained.

The resolution was prepared by Ukraine in cooperation with more than 50 countries, but for the first time without the support of the United States of America.
