Reserve police force of the RS MUP to be established

BANJA LUKA, (Patria) - The Government of Republika Srpska today adopted the Draft Amendments to the Law on Police and Internal Affairs, which, as stated, due to various security challenges, establish the formal legal conditions for the establishment of a reserve police force.

It is stipulated that the reserve police force will have the same powers as the regular police in accordance with the Law on Police and Internal Affairs, in order to achieve the maximum level of security for persons and property, especially during periods when an increase in the intensity of the migrant crisis is expected, BHT1 reported.

The age limit for hiring police officers has also been raised with the aim of rejuvenating the staff in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and formal legal conditions have been created for the establishment of a protection system for the information and communication structure, as well as for the electronic communication of the MUP with citizens.

Nihad Čolpa, a representative in the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament and president of the Civic Alliance, recently called on the Peace Implementation Council in BiH to immediately review and prevent the formation of the reserve force of the RS MUP, because, as he said, it poses a danger to peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"Otherwise, it is necessary for the FBiH MUP to immediately undertake activities aimed at forming a reserve police force and thus establish a balance and increase security in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is only possible if there is a balance in all segments of those who are for a unified and stable Bosnia and Herzegovina and those who are against such a BiH," Čolpa stated.
