Director of the Mediterranean Film Festival Tomislav Topić presented to the Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH Adil Osmanović the documentary film festival that has been held in Široki Brijeg since 2002, it was announced from the relevant ministry, reports the Patria News Agency.
He emphasized that the Mediterranean Film Festival is the oldest documentary film festival in the region, given that only documentary films compete in it, and a significant part of the accompanying program is also based on documentaries. As part of the festival, a School of Film Culture is also organized with relevant lecturers, supported by the Embassy of the United States of America in BiH.
Minister Adil Osmanović said that the Ministry of Civil Affairs recognizes the importance of the Festival for the Herzegovina region, but also for the whole of BiH, and therefore the Mediterranean Film Festival project is supported by grant funds allocated by this ministry.
- We are aware of the fact that the funds are not sufficient, but considering the great needs in the field of culture, as well as the importance of the projects being implemented, we are making maximum efforts to help the most significant events and institutions, said Minister Osmanović.
He particularly emphasized the fact that the activities of the Mediterranean Film Festival are recognized within the European Union program and expressed the expectation that the funds that cultural workers from BiH withdraw from European funds will justify the entry tickets that the state pays for participation in programs in the field of culture and audiovisual arts.
