(Patria) - The OSCE Mission in BiH believes that the recent cyber attack on the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH also shows the vulnerability of key ICT systems in BiH and the need to urgently address shortcomings in the field of cybersecurity.
"This attack has jeopardized the transparency of legislative work and access to information. As elections approach, increased resilience to cyber attacks and the development of internal strategies to strengthen the cybersecurity of legislative bodies will be of essential importance for the next mandate of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, as well as for its work on reforms.
It is also high time for the competent institutions to operationalize the Computer Incident Response Team (CERT) for BiH institutions, establish a CERT for FBiH institutions, and develop a framework cybersecurity strategy for BiH.
Without these long-needed and systemic improvements, government ICT systems will remain extremely vulnerable to cyber attacks targeting critical infrastructure and key service providers," stated the OSCE Mission.
