OSCE calls for urgent investigation into attacks on Patria and N1

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The OSCE Mission has called for an urgent and swift investigation into the recent cyber attacks on the Patria News Agency and N1 Sarajevo.

"Such attacks on media houses are unacceptable and harmful to media freedom," the OSCE stated.

The Bosnian news agency Patria has been subjected to strong and targeted hacker attacks in recent days.

This is not the first time Patria has been targeted by hackers. 

According to experts, these are planned attacks aimed at preventing the Bosnian news agency Patria from disseminating information to the media in Bosnia and Herzegovina and end-users.

A few days ago, the N1 television portal was also hit by DDoS attacks that disabled the portal's functionality.

We remind that the Association of Journalists of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AJBiH) also calls on the competent institutions to inform the public about the results of the investigation into the 'case of hacker attacks on the Patria News Agency (NAP)'.

The Association of Journalists of BiH, at the same time, reminds that it is principled against unjustified interference with the work of any media or journalist.

"We in the Association of Journalists of BiH do not want to speculate about the possible political background of these attacks, but since the legal team of the Patria News Agency has already reported the case to the Federal Police Administration, the Department for Cybercrime, we expect this case to be taken seriously, and the public to be informed in a timely manner about the results of the investigation, regardless of what they may be," the professional association announced.
