Eight years since terrorist attack and death of police officer Tarik Ljubuškić in Bugojno

BUGOJNO, (Patria) - The eighth anniversary of the terrorist attack on the Police Station in this town, in which police officer Tarik Ljubuškić was killed, will be marked today in Bugojno.

On that occasion, police officer Edina Hindić was seriously wounded, while five of their colleagues sustained minor injuries.

Police and other delegations will lay flowers in front of the plaque in the hall and at the memorial near the Bugojno Police Station building, as well as at the Jaklić cemetery, where tribute will be paid to Tarik Ljubuškić.

Haris Čaušević Oks, accused of the terrorist attack in Bugojno, was sentenced to 35 years in prison in a retrial.

The attack, it was later determined, could have had much more severe consequences, as Čaušević's intention was to detonate the explosive device during the police shift change.

The explosive was placed between the police administration building and parked vehicles, and was activated shortly before five o'clock when police officers were gathering to secure the religious pilgrimage in Ajvatovica.

On that occasion, material damage of around 250,000 euros was caused to the Police Station building, and surrounding buildings and vehicles were also damaged.
