Eight killed so far: They fought in Syria and returned to Serbia

26 citizens of Serbia participated in the battlefield in Syria, it was stated in the parliament and it was said that there is no threat of terrorist acts, reports the Patria News Agency.

Members of the Serbian Parliament are considering the ratification of several international agreements, including the International Convention against the Recruitment, Use, Financing and Training of Mercenaries, which has so far been supported by almost all parliamentary groups.

MP of the SNS, Aleksandra Đurović, stated during the debate that 26 citizens of Serbia participated in the battlefield in Syria, of whom seven returned and eight were killed.

According to her, the police are monitoring the individuals who have returned, so the citizens of Serbia can feel safe.

The convention prohibits the recruitment, use, financing and training of mercenaries, as well as the actions of mercenaries themselves, and the member states of the Convention undertake not to recruit, use, finance or train mercenaries, and to cooperate with each other in preventing criminal offenses established by the Convention, which includes the obligation to arrest and extradite mercenaries found on their territory, reports B92.
