Armed Forces celebrate 'birthday': Some demand budget increase, Dodik calls for abolition of BiH army

The Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina are the official name of the BiH military forces, which are the successors to the "traditions" of three armed forces, the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Croatian Defence Council, and the Army of Republika Srpska (the first two were transformed into the Army of FBiH by signing the Dayton Agreement). The BiH AF are celebrating their birthday today. They were formed on December 1, 2005.

The Supreme Commander of the BiH AF is the Presidency of BiH, followed by the Ministry of Defence of BiH and the Joint Staff of BiH in the chain of command.

Military personnel, civilian personnel, and cadets can serve in the Armed Forces. Military personnel are professional military personnel and personnel in the reserve component while on duty.

The BiH Armed Forces have about 10,000 professional military personnel, about 5,000 personnel in reserve, as well as about 1,000 civilian employees.

The BiH Armed Forces consist of branches, corps, and services.

Unfortunately, the conditions for performing this duty are becoming increasingly difficult, and some individuals are announcing a budget increase for the BiH AF, while Milorad Dodik has publicly stated that he will advocate for the abolition of the Armed Forces.
