Armed Forces of BiH a great help to the FUCZ in firefighting

Since the early morning hours of August 25, 2017, the commander of the Air Force and Air Defence Brigade of the Armed Forces of BiH, Brigadier Dragan Nakić, along with the crew of the First Helicopter Squadron of the Air Force and Air Defence Brigade, have been conducting reconnaissance of fire sites in municipalities where fires have been active in recent days.

The aim of the reconnaissance is to assess the situation and critical points in the areas affected by fires, as well as the need for further engagement of air forces to prevent the spread of the fire.

The previous day, August 24, 2017, members of the AF BiH actively contributed to firefighting in the municipalities of Čapljina, Mostar and Gacko. On that occasion, AF BiH helicopters, operating in the fire-affected areas, achieved 5.2 flight hours, during which 20 buckets of water (over 46 tons of water) were discharged, consuming over 4,700 litres of GM 1 fuel.

Depending on the situation at the fire site, the Armed Forces of BiH will remain on standby and ready to continue providing assistance to civilian authorities in firefighting in BiH.

That the Armed Forces of BiH actively participate in assisting civilian structures is confirmed by the statement of the Director of the Federal Administration for Civil Protection, Fahrudin Solak.
