Armed Forces of BiH continue firefighting activities in the municipality of Drvar

In accordance with approved and prescribed procedures, and at the request of civilian authorities, the Armed Forces of BiH have continued activities to assist the civilian population in extinguishing fires that have been active in recent months across a wide area of BiH.

Thus, in the early morning hours of August 28, 2017, the Armed Forces of BiH were engaged in extinguishing a fire at the Oštrelja site in the municipality of Drvar using an Mi-8 MTV helicopter. Operating at the said site, the BiH Armed Forces helicopter achieved two flight hours, during which more than 13 tons of water were discharged in nine runs.

In addition to the helicopters and crews of the BiH Armed Forces Air Force, 10 members of the BiH Armed Forces with firefighting equipment were engaged in extinguishing the fire at the Čvrsnica site in the municipality of Posušje, while over 100 members are on standby.

The previous day, August 27, 2017, members of the BiH Armed Forces actively contributed to reconnaissance and firefighting in the municipalities of Mostar and Drvar, where, using a BiH Armed Forces helicopter, they operated at fire-affected sites, achieving 6.7 flight hours, during which over 13 tons of water were discharged, consuming over 3,700 liters of GM 1 fuel.
