Armed Forces of BiH continue engagement in assisting civilian structures in firefighting

At the request of the Operational Communication Center 112 of the Ministry of Security of BiH, and in accordance with prescribed procedures, the Armed Forces of BiH continued their engagement in assisting civilian structures in extinguishing fires that are active on the territory of BiH.

Thus, in the early morning hours of August 26, 2017, from 06:40 to 08:40, the Armed Forces of BiH, using a Mi-8 MTV helicopter, were engaged in extinguishing a fire at the location of Čvrsnica in the municipality of Posušje. After two hours of engagement in the municipality of Posušje, the BiH Armed Forces helicopter, after refueling, was dispatched to extinguish a fire at the location of Rujišta in the municipality of Mostar.

In addition to the helicopters and crews of the BiH Armed Forces Air Force, 15 members of the BiH Armed Forces with appropriate firefighting equipment were also engaged in extinguishing the fire in the municipality of Posušje.

During the previous day, the BiH Armed Forces were engaged in reconnaissance of locations in municipalities affected by fires, as well as aerial firefighting in the municipality of Trebinje, and with 15 members of the BiH Armed Forces in the municipality of Posušje. During the execution of this task by air in the municipality of Trebinje, helicopter crews of the BiH Armed Forces achieved 2 flight hours, dropped 3 buckets and over 6 tons of water on areas affected by fire, for which over 1450 liters of fuel were consumed.

The BiH Armed Forces will continue, through aerial and ground engagement, in accordance with their capacities and resources, to provide all necessary assistance and be at the disposal of civilian structures in firefighting on the territory of BiH.
