AF BiH engaged in firefighting in Drvar municipality

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The Second Helicopter Squadron of the Armed Forces of BiH located at the "Rajlovac OS BiH" barracks is engaged today in firefighting in the municipality of Drvar.

In the morning hours, the Armed Forces of BiH urgently requested the engagement of UH-1H helicopters to extinguish a forest fire that occurred in the wider area of the municipality of Drvar. Helicopter units of the Armed Forces will continue activities in firefighting until the fire is completely localized, the BiH Ministry of Defense announced.

In addition to tasks like this, helicopter crews of the Second Helicopter Squadron of the Air Force and Anti-Aircraft Defense Brigade (ZS i PZO) of the Armed Forces of BiH perform other activities such as the rotation of personnel at the Pločno radio-relay station on Mount Čvrsnica, which was carried out concurrently with preparations for firefighting.

With the engagement of the Armed Forces of BiH to provide assistance to civil authorities in preventing and stopping the spread of the coronavirus, by carrying out today's tasks and working in specific conditions of snow and fire, throughout the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the helicopter units of the AF BiH demonstrate their readiness and training in fulfilling their legally prescribed mission of supporting civil authorities during natural and other disasters. We emphasize that this is the first mission of assistance to civil authorities in firefighting this year.

The Armed Forces of BiH are still ready to assist the civilian population throughout the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina in accordance with their legally prescribed mission and depending on available capacities.
