(Patria) - Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban praised former US President Donald Trump after he became the first current or former US president to be criminally convicted.
"I know President Donald Trump to be a man of honor. As President, he always put America first.
He commanded respect around the world and used this respect to build peace. Let the people make their verdict this November," Orban wrote on platform X.

A jury in New York found Trump guilty on all 34 counts of the indictment for paying hush money to a porn star. This is the first time in US history that a current or former US president has been found criminally liable.
Trump and Orban regularly praise each other in public. Orban was the only government leader of an EU country to express open support for Trump even before he was elected president in 2016.
In a visit that surprised both the US and the EU, Orban traveled to a luxury resort in Florida in March to meet with Trump.
The two right-wing populists have a lot in common politically. Trump's former chief strategist Steve Bannon once described the Hungarian as "Trump before Trump." Orban has been in power in Hungary since 2010.
The Kremlin assessed yesterday that the verdict against Trump showed that all legal and illegal means are being used in the US to deal with political rivals.
