Orban called on Austria to close its borders to refugees

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban called on Austria and Hungary to close their borders, reports the Patria News Agency.

In a statement broadcast on Austrian state television ORF's evening news, he said that these two countries should clearly state that they will not accept further refugees, otherwise millions more people would come to Europe.

Entering the EU without documents does not comply with the rules, and despite this, Austria allowed refugees to enter the country, he criticized.

Most migrants are economic refugees, Orban claims.

Orban pointed out that Hungary has sufficient financial and police resources to provide accommodation and food to those who need protection, but despite this, everyone wants to go to Germany.

- The problem is not on our side, emphasized the Hungarian Prime Minister.

During this weekend, 15,000 refugees entered Austria from Hungary, most of whom continued their journey to Germany, confirmed Karl-Heinz Grindbek, spokesperson for the Austrian Ministry of Interior.

Only 90 people applied for asylum, the Ministry states, writes Tanjug.
