Orban finally relented: EU leaders agreed on a €50 billion aid package for Ukraine

(Patria) - President of the European Council Charles Michel confirmed that an agreement has been reached on €50 billion in aid for Ukraine.

"All 27 leaders agreed," he said, adding that "this ensures steadfast, long-term, predictable financing for Ukraine."

The agreement comes after the most influential EU politicians spoke with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán this morning.

Orbán had vetoed the agreement during the summit in December.

Michel's announcement on social media platform X shows that the leaders managed to convince the Hungarian leader after all, The Guardian reports.
