Terrorism indictment against Jahja Vuković, fought in Syria

(Patria) - The Prosecutor of the Department for Terrorism has filed an indictment against Jahja Vuković, born in 1999 in Bihać, extradited to Bosnia and Herzegovina on 10/22/2020, since when he has been in custody.

The accused is charged with leaving BiH on 06/16/2014 and going to Germany, from where, after about two months, he traveled by plane to the Republic of Turkey, and then illegally crossed the border between Turkey and Syria, with the intention of joining terrorist groups operating in that area. Evidence has been collected that the accused joined formations within the terrorist organization "Jabhat al-Nusra Front" ("Al Nusra Front") and terrorist groups operating in Syria, which have been declared terrorist organizations by the UN Security Council, whose members, through daily armed actions, including attacks on the population, killings, unlawful detentions, hostage-taking, and other actions, committed terrorist acts with the intention of violently changing the constitutional order and regime.

The indictment states that the accused stayed in the mentioned area with other persons from Bosnia and Herzegovina who were staying in Syria with the same intention, and under the name "Abdulaziz" participated in terrorist activities, provided assistance, and fought on the side of the "Jabhat al-Nusra Front" forces.

The accused stayed in Syria until the collapse and defeat of the structures of the so-called "ISIL", after which he hid in the territory of the Republic of Turkey, where he was located, deprived of liberty, and extradited to the justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The accused is charged with becoming a member of a terrorist group and providing assistance to a terrorist group, thereby committing the criminal offense of "Organizing a Terrorist Group under Article 202d, Paragraph 2, in conjunction with Paragraph 1, and all in conjunction with Article 201 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina."

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH will prove the allegations of the indictment by calling several witnesses and expert witnesses, including witnesses with protection measures, and by submitting material evidence. The indictment has been forwarded to the Court of BiH.
