Indictment against Gojgolović for rape in Sušica camp

(Patria) - The Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes has filed an indictment against Milenko Gojgolović, born in 1955 in Vlasenica, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Canada. The accused is charged with acting contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Conventions on the protection of civilian persons during wartime, during the war and armed conflict in BiH, as a member of units of the Drina Corps of the VRS.

The accused is charged with coming to the Sušica camp in Vlasenica in July 1992, armed with an automatic weapon, pistol and knife and in military uniform, where civilians of Bosniak nationality, including women and children, were illegally detained.

At the said location, the camp commander Dragan Nikolić (convicted by the ICTY in The Hague) handed over to the accused Gojgolović the injured victim, a woman of Bosniak nationality from the Vlasenica area, who had previously been taken out of the hangar.

The indictment states that the accused took the victim to an abandoned house within the camp, where, by threatening the victim's life with a weapon, as well as through physical and psychological abuse, he beat the victim with his hands on the head and body and committed rape and sexual abuse against her, which caused permanent consequences for the victim. The accused is charged with committing the criminal offense of war crimes against the civilian population.

The prosecution will prove the allegations by summoning around 20 witnesses and presenting several dozen pieces of evidence.

The indictment has been forwarded for confirmation to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
