Indictment against Montenegrin citizen for persecution and rape in Foča

(Patria) - A prosecutor from the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has filed an indictment against Radulović Ranko, born in 1960 in Nikšić, previously convicted multiple times, a citizen of Montenegro, for crimes against humanity in the area of eastern Bosnia during the aggression against that country.

The accused Radulović Ranko (1960) is charged with crimes against victims of Bosniak nationality in the area of Foča and surrounding places during 1992.

The prosecutor from the Special Department for War Crimes has filed an indictment against Radulović Ranko, born in 1960 in Nikšić, previously convicted multiple times, a citizen of Montenegro.

The accused is charged that during the war and a widespread and systematic attack on the civilian population of Bosniak nationality in the area of Foča and its surroundings, as a member of the VRS, he acted contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Conventions on the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.

He is charged that during July and August 1992, together with other persons, he persecuted the civilian population of Bosniak nationality, within which persecution he participated in attacks on the civilian population and settlements, and that attack resulted in the death of victims. He is also charged with participating in taking hostages, as well as in unlawful, arbitrary, and militarily unjustified destruction of property on a large scale, participating in the unlawful detention of civilians, assisting in forcing girls of Bosniak nationality into sexual intercourse or sexual acts equivalent to it – rape, and that he committed rape of multiple victims on several occasions.

The accused is charged with the criminal offense – Crime Against Humanity from Article 172 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Prosecution will prove the allegations of the indictment by calling approximately 50 witnesses, including seven (7) witnesses with assigned protection measures, as well as by submitting approximately 200 material pieces of evidence.

The indictment has been forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
