SIPA police officer indicted for leaking secrets to organized crime suspects via Sky app

(Patria) - The BiH Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against Gačanović Fahrudin, born in 1979 in Sarajevo, a police officer of the State Investigation and Protection Agency - SIPA, temporarily assigned to the BiH Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies.

The accused is charged that, as a member of SIPA during 2020 and 2021, using the Sky application at one point, he contacted suspects in organized crime cases, and in several separate instances, he requested and received a gift in the form of money and other benefits for himself, in order to allegedly provide them with protection or inform them about the work and activities of SIPA and other law enforcement agencies.

The accused is charged with having obtained illegal property gain in the amount of at least 4000 euros through the commission of criminal offenses, thereby committing the criminal offense of Receiving a Reward or Other Form of Benefit for Trading in Influence under Article 219 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

The indictment also requests the confiscation of illegal property gain, as well as the imposition of a ban on performing the duties of a police officer for a period of at least 5 years, starting from the date the verdict becomes final.
