Extensive operation in Neum: Control of persons providing accommodation services to foreigners

Inspectors of the Service for Foreigners Affairs conducted an extensive inspection of legal and natural persons providing accommodation services to foreign nationals, as well as control of the stay and work of foreigners in the area of Neum.

The control was carried out based on operational findings collected by the Service for Foreigners Affairs that a certain number of legal and natural persons providing accommodation services to foreign nationals in the municipality of Neum are not adhering to legal provisions regarding the possession, verification, and keeping of guest books, timely registration and deregistration of foreigners, as well as based on findings that foreign nationals are working in certain facilities, contrary to the legal provisions regulating the work of foreigners in BiH.

During this planned operation, which was carried out simultaneously at multiple locations in the municipality of Neum, 160 legal and natural persons providing accommodation services to foreign nationals were inspected.

Numerous irregularities and non-compliance with the immigration regulations of Bosnia and Herzegovina were found, and 33 misdemeanor orders were issued and more than 40 summonses were served for the purpose of taking measures within the jurisdiction of the Service and rectifying the observed irregularities by natural and legal persons providing accommodation services.

The operation of the Service for Foreigners Affairs will continue today in the area of Mostar, and in the coming period in other areas of BiH where, according to collected information, there is an increased number of foreign nationals, with the aim of controlling the fulfillment of legal obligations by accommodation service providers, and determining the legality of the stay and work of foreign nationals.

The Service for Foreigners Affairs invites legal and natural persons providing accommodation services to foreign nationals to report to the competent field center of the Service to be informed about all legal obligations related to the registration and deregistration of foreigners and keeping of prescribed records in accordance with the Law on Foreigners.
