Old Town Municipality Supports 25th SFF: The Best Edition of the Festival is Expected

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – The Old Town Municipality has once again supported the Sarajevo Film Festival, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, with 20,000 KM. Municipal Mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić congratulated the Festival Director Mirsad Purivatra on the significant jubilee.

“We will try to extend the working hours of catering facilities through our Economy Department, provided that the conditions are met, meaning that attention is paid to sound levels and summer gardens. Also, DVD Vratnik will increase street washing in the narrow Old Town core to ensure hygiene is at a high level, considering the increasing number of tourists already in Sarajevo, and we hope for an even larger number during the SFF,” said Hadžibajrić.

Every year, the SFF gets better and more successful, said Hadžibajrić.

The SFF Director emphasized that the Municipality helps the financial stability of the Festival and aids its organization and realization.

“I think this Festival will be the best, it should also be the largest. We have a record number of confirmed guests coming, we already have over 1,300 professionals attending. This is the largest gathering of film authors from Vienna to Istanbul. There is no larger festival in terms of the number of film professionals, authors, directors, actors, producers, film funds. We are already having problems with hotel accommodation,” said Purivatra.

The largest part of the accommodation capacities for SFF guests is located in the Old Town area. The SFF is expected to be covered by around 700 media teams from 35 countries.

"Great Oscar winners are coming, certainly one of the greatest directors of our time, Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu, a five-time Oscar winner. Pawel Pawlikowski is coming, the jury president is the winner of the Cannes Film Festival, Béla Tarr will also be here, and many others. It will be a wonderful eight days, and I believe we will enjoy the films and the atmosphere in the city itself,” said Purivatra.
