(Patria) - The Mayor of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo, Dr. Hasan Tanović, and representatives of the Sarajevo Canton public kitchens signed agreements today on co-financing the operation of public kitchens in the total amount of 19,000 KM.

Four public kitchens of the Sarajevo Canton applied for the public call announced by the Municipality. 10,000 KM was allocated to the Red Cross Novo Sarajevo, 5,000 KM to the association “Kruh svetog Ante Franjevačke provincije Bosne Srebrene“, 2,000 KM to the association “Dobrotvor“, and 2,000 KM to the association “Merhamet“.

The Municipality of Novo Sarajevo allocated the amount of 19,000 KM for these purposes, and the co-financing relates to the costs of additional services that public kitchens must provide to users from the area of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo, such as packages with basic food items, fresh fruit, products for maintaining personal and family hygiene, and the like. The co-financing amounts are proportional to the number of users from the area of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo. As before, we will continue to support the work of public kitchens with the aim of providing assistance to those who need it most – emphasized Mayor Dr. Tanović.
The President of the Management Board of “Dobrotvor“, Aleksa Ćebić, thanked Mayor Dr. Tanović for his understanding regarding the functioning of public kitchens in the Sarajevo Canton, emphasizing that, unfortunately, an increasing number of citizens are expected to need their services in the coming period.

We are witnessing increasing inflation, rising living costs, and unfortunately, the number of users of public kitchens is rapidly increasing. Accordingly, this assistance came at the right time, and we hope that through this type of cooperation with local communities, we will continue to succeed in consistently preparing meals for all those who need them and for whom these kitchens are of existential importance – emphasized Ćebić.
