Municipality Centar strategic partner of Sarajevo Film Festival

At a meeting held at the Municipality Centar, Mayor Nedžad Ajnadžić and Mirsad Purivatra, director of the Sarajevo Film Festival, discussed a new way of establishing a partnership between the Municipality Centar and SFF, Patria reports.

- Over 95 percent of the activities we carry out during the SFF take place in the Municipality Centar. Therefore, we discussed several projects with Mayor Ajnadžić, such as the renovation of the Theatre Square-Susan Sontag, which is the central venue during the festival, and the arrangement of the space where the Open Air Cinema is located at the Metalac playground. We also presented an idea that will improve the gastronomic offer of this city - explained Purivatra.

Mayor Ajnadžić emphasized that he is aware of the importance of the Sarajevo Film Festival for this municipality, the City, and the Canton of Sarajevo in the world, as confirmed by the great world stars who come to the city during the Festival.

- The Municipality Centar needs and can be a partner of the SFF. In addition to our financial support, we are also ready to help with the renovation of the space at the Metalac playground for the needs of the festival, until its final purpose is realized, where the Municipality Centar would use this space for the rest of the year when the film festival is not taking place. As is known, we have initiated activities for the arrangement of the Theatre Square-Susan Sontag, for which I expect the project implementation to begin in 2017.

Also, we are working on the project of arranging the archaeological park at the site of the Kalin-hadži Alija mosque and are interested in the project of free film screenings for elementary school students from our schools. We have ambitions to create, where possible, streets without motor vehicle traffic intended only for pedestrian movement and the organization of various cultural events, thereby enriching our tourist offer, as is the case with Radićeva Street, and to continue with the project of employing young people from Centar in the organization of the Sarajevo Film Festival - emphasized Ajnadžić after the meeting.
