Under the auspices of the Municipality Centar, an exhibition of paintings by academic painter Irfan Hozo was opened in the BiH institutions building at Marijin Dvor in Sarajevo, reports the Patria News Agency.
The exhibition was opened by advisor Mustafa Resić on behalf of the Mayor of Municipality Centar, Dževad Bećirević.
- Irfan in Arabic means to know, to comprehend, to be able to. Irfan has best proven this ability in numerous exhibitions from Dubrovnik, Zagreb, Vukovar to Cairo, Luxor, Vienna, Rome, Madrid, Istanbul...
His work speaks of the strength of our art and people who, in difficult times in this region, know how to bring forth something that is always brilliantly different and unlike the reality we live in.
In a time of challenges of Bosnian and world drama, dominated by phenomena of human alienation, greed, and resistance to success, here we have the achievement of an artist who, with a picturesque fairy tale, says that a better world is possible in which we live – stated Resić and appealed for the construction of an art museum in Sarajevo, where artworks would be exhibited in permanent collections, instead of in closets and chests, shown to the world as witnesses to the intellect and spirituality of our great artists.
With words of gratitude to the Municipality Centar and its mayor for this support, Irfan Hozo said that the exhibition contains 27 works (done in oil on canvas technique) from two painting cycles, ''Atelje'' and ''Mrtva priroda'' (Still Life), as named by the renowned art historian Vojislav Vujanović.
The exhibition is for sale and will be open to visitors until May 20, it was announced from the Municipality Centar.
