Municipality Centar pays health insurance for 56 socially endangered persons

 

In an effort to provide assistance to those who need it most, and primarily to socially endangered fellow citizens, the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo has been allocating funds from its budget for years to pay for health insurance for persons in a state of social need who are unable to secure health insurance on another basis, it was announced from the Sarajevo Municipality Centar, reports the Patria News Agency.  

For this purpose, 18,540 marks have been allocated in this year's municipal budget. Currently, through the municipal Service for Work, Social Affairs, Health, Refugees and Displaced Persons, 56 individuals are exercising this right.

The assistant to the municipal mayor, Osmo Babić, who heads the aforementioned service, explains who is entitled to this type of assistance.

-In accordance with the cantonal Law on Social Protection, Protection of War Victims and Protection of Families with Children, persons in a state of social need who reside in the territory of the Municipality of Centar, and who are not health insured on any other basis, can exercise their right to health care. To exercise this right, it is necessary, first and foremost, to obtain a social history from the Social Protection Service at the Public Institution Center for Social Work of Sarajevo Canton, which indicates that the applicant is in a state of social need.

It is important to note that persons who do not regularly report to the Employment Bureau cannot exercise this right. Through our service, this right is currently exercised by 56 individuals for whose health care 20 KM per month is allocated from the municipal budget. In this year's budget, 17,000 KM was initially planned for the health care of persons in a state of social need, but these funds were increased by the budget rebalance, said Babić.
